Correct Posture (Mewing)

At rest the tongue should be sucked lightly against the soft tissue of the palate, with the teeth either in or near contact (less than 2mm apart) and the lips lightly sealed. The teeth need to touch each other between 4 and 8 hours a day depending on the contact force. The tip of the tongue should contact the palatal rugae and should hardly touch the teeth especially when swallowing. The Tropic Premise states that correct facial growth requires correct oral posture.

Depending on age, correct posture can either prevent or improve unsatisfactory facial development. Correct Postural Training (mewing) can avoid malocclusion, Jaw joint, and Ear Nose and Throat problems if applied effectively depending on age and compliance. Correct mewing will also improve facial development and many aspects of health in almost all patients at any age. Appliances are usually required after the deciduous changeover certainly if major change is indicated.
